About .kr domains

All .kr domains have the same requirements, restrictions, and supported features, such as registrations and renewals, transfers, and DNS.

Registrations and renewals

Anyone can register .kr .co.kr, .ne.kr, and .re.krdomains on a first-come, first-served basis. Businesses located in the Republic of Korea must provide a local Korean business registration (certificate) number during registration. A trustee service will be used for registrants located outside of the Republic of Korea, at no additional cost.

New registrations

  • Registration length: 1-10 years
  • Must use: 1-63 characters
  • Can use: Letters (a-z characters), numbers (0-9) and hyphens (except in the 3rd and 4th characters of the domain name)
  • Cannot use: Special characters (e.g., & or #)
  • IDNs (Internationalized Domain Names): Supported

Renewals

  • Renewal length: 1-10 years
  • You can manually renew your domain up to 10 days after expiration. We'll attempt to auto-renew 1 day after expiration, and we'll park the domain after the first failed billing attempt. Redemption fees may be applied 2 days after expiration. Check out the standard expiration timeline for details on what happens after expiration.
